Photocopying, Printing, Downloading

Photocopying

Photocopy machines are located on the Main through D-Levels. Black and white copies are $0.07 per page; color copies on the A-Level machine are $0.60 per page (J-Card or Copy/Printing Card only).

There is an initial charge of $0.75 for a copy/printing card. For more information on obtaining or adding money to a copy card, please refer to the information page.

Printing

Printing is available from all public workstations at $0.07 per page; color printouts on the A-Level machine cost $0.60 per page (J-Card or Copy/Printing Card only). Networked printers are located on the Main Level (five printers), A-Level (one color printer), B-Level (one printer), C-Level (two printers), and D-Level (two printers). Please note: printing to the Libraries' public printers from your personal laptop is now available. Please visit Remote and Wireless Printing for more information and configuration instructions.

See below for information on downloading your work to a floppy as an alternative to printing it. Please refer to the Public Computers Information page for questions regarding networking and public computer use in the library.

Scanning

The library has free high-quality scanning capability via several of our printer/copier machines on M and A Levels for Hopkins students, faculty and staff.
Scanning available on large M Level printers on the left side of the Copy Room and on the one print/copier on A level. All scanning is full-color and is saved by default at a TIFF/PDF format – this can be changed to other formats in Options. Scans can be saved to a USB drive or emailed.

There are also two stand-alone flatbed scanners for general use in GPML on A-Level connected to the computers there. The computers require JHED logins so scanning can only be done by JHU affiliates or patrons who have affiliate logins.

Downloading

On Library public PCs, files can be downloaded to USB drive or floppy disks. Floppy disks for downloading are available for purchase ($0.25 each) from the Circulation Desk on M-Level Sunday-Thursday from 8AM-10PM, and Friday and Saturday from 8AM-8PM.
