ELP has valuable experience in creating sustainable services in data management, managing private events in historic space, and providing services for online libraries. Our proven experience helps us collaboratively create custom solutions in each of these service areas. The ELP model of building sustainable services has given us expertise in incubating, piloting, and then moving new services into sustainable service lines.
Data Management Services:
In January 2011 the National Science Foundation (NSF) began requiring that proposals include a two page data management plan. Research institutions who actively pursue NSF grants have responded to the new requirement by creating data management services through a variety of models that cover a range of support. Johns Hopkins University (JHU) has established a service model that is both responsive to the particular needs and expectations within the Johns Hopkins University community and draws on a fortuitous blend of expertise and experience from the Digital Research and Curation Center and the Entrepreneurial Library Program. In 2010, collaborative work began focusing on piloting and developing a sustainable service model that would help address needs of JHU principal investigators (PIs).
In July 2011, the JHU Data Management services group launched to provide services and support to JHU PIs preparing two page data management plans for NSF proposals and to provide further planning and management once an award has been made. Service provision is based on a consultative support model which recognizes a diversity of needs and solutions for managing data across scientific domains. The services are supported by a dedicated team that will grow JHU’s expertise in data management planning and build upon the core systems developed by the Data Conservancy. Continuous assessment and evaluation is integral to the working operations of the group to ensure services evolve and are responsive to the needs and expectations of JHU PIs.

Historic Property Events Management:
ELP’s has a dedicated team of professionals have a rich expertise of managing and developing events in a range of varied historic spaces. Managing events in historic spaces has its own special set of consideration and constraints, often requiring effectively navigating policies across historical, library, or museum venues. Project Incubation and Sustainability:
Over the years ELP has piloted some pilots that give us a unique range of experience to draw upon. ELP has extensive experience at understanding what ideas to incubate and grow from the idea stage throughout the project life cycle. ELP also understands how to assess programmatic changes and needs in order to make recommendations for possible directions with new and existing services and programs.
Examples of past services include an oral history and archival research program for JHU and supplying medical reference support to employees of a company. More recently, ELP has been piloting and incubating projects related to integrating information, digital, and data literacy into curriculum at various learning stages, such as k-12, higher education, and personal learning spaces.
